Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack - Women's:
I used this pack for an 8 day remote backcountry hike. We were hammered with rain and snow throughout the trip. The raincover kept the pack dry through 4 days of torrential downpour that had us hiking up to our midcalf in water. This pack held up a treat.
I carried 15kg load with no back or hip bruising or even pain. There was a fantastic amount of padding around the hips, very important for me when carrying a heavy load.
The pack is very adjustable. I am 171cm (5'7) and one of my friends who is 161cm borrowed the pack and it fitted her very well.
I am a huge Dueter fan. After great experiences with their smaller packs, I was not disappointed when I invested in this puppy.

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack - Women's:
THE GOOD:
1) The suspension on this is MARVELOUS! You wouldn't think that from an undiscovered/lesser known brand... but these guys have been making backpacks for over a 100 years in Europe and I must say, they seem to know their stuff! I haul this for week long to overnighters and in comparison to most folk, my back is minimally sweaty and I don't feel overheated ever. I even rarely take off the pack when I break, it's pretty comfortable. It really does put all the weight onto your hips and legs (where it should be) so my legs always feel tired but NEVER my back or torso.
2) I do a lot of long solo backpacking in 3-season weather as well as weekend trips, so I wanted a backpack that was versatile enough to do both. This does the trick. It fits 35 lbs nicely (my limit) and it reduces well for an overnighter.
3) The material on this is nice and tough. I throw the pack around a bit and when I get it back home, after a nice rinse, it looks practically BRAND NEW.
4) Fits a bear canister nicely.
5) Ridiculously cheap. I got mine during a sale, and for what I saved on my backpack, I was able to use on an ultra-light tent.
THE BAD: (and these are minimal complaints)
1) I'm not an Ultra-Light Backpacker (yet!!!!) but it is 3 lbs 14 ounces, so it's right there in the middle zone... still lightweight in comparison to most packs, but not an UL pack.
2) The shoulder straps slip a little. I don't know why. The weight is really on the hips so it is merely a thought to re-yank the shoulder straps, but to do it while scrambling can be momentarily annoying.
3) Mesh side pockets. Really? I know they did it to save weight, but honestly, when I'm going thru thick brush, the last thing I want to think about is, "I hope I don't snag my side pockets."
4) Depending on your needs, the way this pack expands its volume is by extending upward therefore restricting your ability to look upward. Other packs (like Osprey) expand outward and therefore creating a definite weight shift. So it depends on what you prefer when you're doing long treks, if you'd rather look up or would rather have better stability.
I love this pack. Dollar for dollar a good buy... the only reason I'd replace it is because I'm learning to get lighter and lighter everytime...

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack - Women's:
I am a petite woman, 5'2", 120 lbs, very small bones with wider hips. This is my very first backpack, which I think I bought too quickly. Went to REI & walked around for awhile but had no idea really what to pay attention to. It is highly adjustable and a good price. Went out for 2 "practice hikes" & went about 5 miles with 20 lbs. #1 had to stop & adjust several times, the top forced my head forward and I had to remove everything from the top of the bag to the bungees on the back - but thank goodness they had them. Also the shoulder straps were not narrow enough for my frame and the buckle on the shoulder straps to cinch it down rub both my arms as I was walking, in addition to the sternum strap leaving me with a huge lump on my chest (not too attractive!). Otherwise this pack holds a lot and was comfortable on my back and hips, the side pockets do not allow for a water bottle when it is full, though. The hydration pocket held my 3 ltr reservoir great. I am heading back to the store (1.5 hrs away) to find another pack, wish me luck!

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack - Women's:
I bought this pack many months ago after walking around REI for hours trying on tons of packs, this pack was the only one that fit me AND it happened to be the cheapest.
I went on my first backpacking trip abroad for one month and this pack worked out great. It was really sturdy and it has wide adjusting abilities. What was especially helpful was the ability to adjust the shoulder straps.
I am 5'4'' and weight about 108 pounds and with the pack full (plus not enough working out before hand) it was a little too much weight for me. I also would have preferred a panel opening pack, but the bottom zipper made organizing pretty easy.
Their are a lot of pockets in this pack, it really made organizing easier.

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack - Women's:
Used this pack for 3-night, 4 day hike in Grand Canyon. The pack is very adjustable, packs well, holds lots, and, except for one problem, is very comfortable. I'm 5'1", and have a really short torso. This was the only multi-day pack in the store that could be adjusted to get the shoulder straps to cup my shoulders with the waist belt at the right level. However, on the trip I discovered that, when I walk uphill, the horizontal frame stay at the top of the bag really restricts my head. If straps are tightened up, it forces me to look downward; if straps are looser, the pack sways into the back of my head. The vertical back stays are curved to follow a longer back than mine. REI and Deuter USA advise against bending them, although the pack's tag says "adjustable aluminum stays." Be sure the pack really fits before you buy it.
