Comments about Scarpa Kailash Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
This boot was difficult to find in stock after Backpacker Magazine came out last year. They ranked it number one after being field tested. I have to agree with them on this one. I use it for hiking with a pack up to 45 pounds and this boot can handle it. I have used them during a hunting trip during a snow storm and my feet stayed warm until I stopped for a while. But, it did very well for a non-insulated boot.

Comments about Scarpa Kailash Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
Do not get me wrong, I love this boot. However, I have had them for less than one year and the part of the rubber sole that meets the toe started seperating from the boot. I sent them to Scarpa and they said it was due to "use" and was not covered by warranty. So they did a glue patch job and sent them back to me. Now if you are going to spend this much money on a pair of boots made for hiking I would think that a reasonable person would expect that the toe of the sole would last longer than one year or in my case few hikes. These boots are great but Scarpa's customer service or lack thereof really disappointed me. They did not hesitate to put the blame on me and did not stand behind their product. If I wanted a boot that was going to show signs of wear to that magnitude in such a short period of time I would of bought the [...]specials.I am sure this a freak thing and would recommend these boots to everyone but [...] Happy Hiking!

Comments about Scarpa Kailash Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
These are really great boots. I bought them for day hiking and short 1 - 4 day overnight trips with medium to light loads. They were comfortable right out of the box, but I'd say it took about 2 weeks of regular wear around town and hiking on the weekends to get them fully broken in. I traded out the stock insole for the green superfeet insoles, which provide me with better support. I have not had them very long but so far they appear to be durable and holding up very well. Waterproofing seems to work well, no wet feet yet.

out of the box these are comfy... compared these and the asolo flame, decided to keep these, hopefully they hold up to all the hype!

Comments about Scarpa Kailash Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I work as a Volcano Guide in Guatemala and bought these boots for work because they were rated best all around mid-weight boots by Backpacker Magazine last year. Backpacker was right that they are comfortable right out of the box without a long break in time. They were great boots for about 6 months. After that, though, the leather on the toes started peeling away from the boots, the soles began to separate, and now, less than a year after I bought them, they are no longer waterproof and my feet get wet just hiking through a muddy trail. Granted, maybe I am a little harder on boots with my job than the average hiker, but I have never had a pair of Salomons or Asolos wear out that quickly.

Comments about Scarpa Kailash Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I hike a ton during the summer and needed a boot with good support, good traction and long distance comfort. I pack fairly light, but wanted a sturdy sole and support. This boot is it. Hiked Pikes Peak via Barr trail July 4th. What a great boot!
