Best of the dog lights I've seen. My dog (1.5 year old Black & Tan Coonhound ~ 65 lbs) doesn't seem to care that it's there at all. The 3 different light settings are nice, but I tend to just keep using the "always on" instead of one of the 2 blinkies because it's always moving around my dog and his tags anyway and tends to look blinky because of that. Battery life is good - changed the batteries after 1 hour of use 5-7 times a day for two months (300+ hours of total use). Light output was still good, but not as bright as a fresh pair of batteries, so I changed them out. Could have kept them in longer if I needed to. With a fresh pair of batteries the light is so bright that the ground around my dog glows. My light got a little dodgy after my dog played in wet grass one night; now it seems to go off randomly if he shakes it around A LOT (playing vigorously with other dogs). The battery is hard as heck to change - you have to pry off the back cover, but don't use anything sharp or pointy because you risk injury if your grip slips (which it can do!). I believe the item could also be a tad thinner than it currently is - there seems to be a tad more plastic & open space inside than necessary. Item can be attached with either a keychain ring or a clip, but the clip doesn't seem too tight to me, so I just keychained it onto my dog's collar to make sure. Overall I would recommend it and would buy another, but I look forward to the company's next redesign.

First off I'm a huge fan of ruffwear. My dogs have the backpacks, lifejackets, collars, leashes, beds, travel beds, etc.. You name it and they practically have it. I think ruffwear makes exceptional quality gear for dogs, and I'll continue on as a customer. This is the only product that ruffwear makes that doesn't make the cut for me. I bought two, one for each dog and after very little use they stopped working. So I figured maybe i somehow left the battery on or whatnot. New batteries didn't seem to do anything so ruffwear sent me 2 new ones which was great of them. I thought the problem was done with. But the two new ones just turn off on there own. They've just shut off while my dogs were in a large dog park late at night. So I wasn't impressed. Yesterday on a night walk with my dogs within 15mins one had shut off 3 times on its own with nothing touching it. And the other ones battery was very very low for no reason.
As for the pro's about it, I do like the look and size of it. When it is working properly it's quite a safe little gadget for city walks at night, or camping. If only it could work properly. cheers.
