Comments about REI Raindance Jacket - Women's:
I was looking for a lightweight parka to wear as an outer shell--by itself on mild rainy days or layered over a fleece jacket in colder weather (it does not snow in my area, so I didn't need insulation). My main disappointment is the barely breathable fabric; unlike brand-name Goretex, it is clammy against the skin, traps moisture in humid conditions, and feels cheap. A mesh lining would have made a big difference, but the jacket is completely unlined. The mid-thigh length was perfect for me, but the jacket was cut so tight in the hips I could not have layered underneath it--whereas the rest of the jacket was true to size but not roomy. This was my first purchase of an REI-brand jacket and I won't be buying another.

Comments about REI Raindance Jacket - Women's:
This jacket has a classic fit (not relaxed) so it’s perfect for those who have a classic build. I have never found a jacket that fits this well and is so comfortable. If you want to wear heavy layers underneath I’d suggest buying a size larger than you usually do. I love the incredibly flattering fit so well that I bought one size to wear when it’s warm and rainy and a size larger for when it’s cold and I want extra layers underneath. There is gentle elastic on the back of the jacket along the waistline which brings the jacket in slightly at the waist for a very shapely look. The fabric is much softer that other raincoats I’ve had, and it doesn’t sound like plastic or make crinkle noises when you move. The sleeves are nice and long and have a Velcro tab at the bottom so you can make them snug around your wrist if you want. The inside pocket is a really nice feature that I don’t find very often on women’s jackets. I also like that they made the hood detachable; it makes the jacket much more versatile. All in all, there isn’t anything I’d change about this jacket – except perhaps the description. It should probably state that it is a slim/classic fit; there is no “extra” room in the hip area. But if you’re hips are in proportion to your shoulders, it’s a perfect fit. If you also happen to have a small waist it’s an extremely flattering fit due to the gentle elastic in the back of the jacket along the waistline.

Comments about REI Raindance Jacket - Women's:
The Raindance jacket is basically a light weight shell that will keep you dry during spring/summer showers. It is stylish but lacking in the essentials. The A-line fit is flattering, especially the way it cinches in the back. But, unlike other REI shells, you cannot zip in a liner so it will not keep you warm in the winter. I'm 5.7, 130 lbs, size 36B and the small fits me perfectly. It's a little snug so if you are larger in the chest, you will want to go up a size.
I mainly bought this jacket for a trip to Vietnam. It's light enough to pack yet long enough to cover the bum. I hate rain coats that don't go below the hips. The hood provides adequete coverage and is adjustable. You can also detach it. In additon to the front pockets, there is also a media pocket inside that will be perfect for passport, cash, etc. I bought this when it was onsale. For what it is, I think the orginal price was spendy- especially since you can't zip in a liner.

Comments about REI Raindance Jacket - Women's:
I live in MN - where the weather is EXTREME and can change drastically. This is exactly the raincoat I have always needed. I have had many previous 'high quality' brand raincoats, but none compare to this one for pure functionality and style. The fit is absolutely wonderful - very comfortable yet super flattering and girly with the gathered waistline. My final and most important point of why i love this jacket so much... the longer cut. If you've ever been in a rainstorm with dry shoulders and SOAKED thighs and pants... you know what I'm talking about. Sometimes you simply cannot pack rainpants, and for those frequent occasions, you'll be high and dry.

Comments about REI Raindance Jacket - Women's:
Most rain jackets have the outdoor & sporty looks that I had gotten used to. So, when I spotted this rain jacket from REI, I immediately wanted to give it a try although I had already purchased a Marmot precip jacket a month before. I wasn't disappointed. The cut looked flattering on me and the material felt high-quality. The pockets are meticulously designed and nice-looking. I will use it around the city while saving my Marmot jacket for hikes. I am packing this jacket for my upcoming Europe trip, where rain is the norm around this time of the year. I'll see if I will find any complaints about the jacekt, but so far definitely none.

This is an update to an earlier post I made. This jacket has now been with me through the monsoon season in India, as well as throughout Europe on those cold windy dreary days walking through the city. It has performed without flaw, I am very impressed. I also received many compliments on the fit and style of the jacket. It is not only a lifesaver, it looks good doing it. Well Done REI.

I found this jacket at the store, and fell in love. It is lightweight, but still warm, and looks great. It's a nice length, hitting just mid-thigh. I bought it to walk the dog but find myself wearing it all the time!
