Comments about Lafuma Extreme +45 Sleeping Bag - Long - '07 Closeout:

I chose the lafuma for my summer backpacking sleeping bag. Living in florida, I wanted a bag that wasn't too heavy or warm for those hot, sticky nights. If you are looking for something like that, this is your bag. Anything below 55 degrees is a stretch unless you plan on bundling up with a jacket in this bag. definitely not a 45 degree bag.

This bag is, however, very very light and packs up very small. I'm able to fit this sleeping back and my tent and rainfly (no poles) in the sleeping bag compartment of my pack with room to spare. You don't even really notice it in your pack.

Bottom line - Lightweight, packs small and great for warm summer trips, but wouldn't count on staying too warm on those cool evenings.

I took this bag on my 1800 mile bike ride from San Diego up to Vancouver, BC. This bag was perfect for the trip. It didn't come with a compression sack, but the sac it came with made the bag plently small enough to stash into a pannier. At night it kept me plenty warm and dried quickly. I would recommend this bag if you want a light weight 45+ degree bag.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme +45 Sleeping Bag - Long - '07 Closeout:

Tried this bag out at 5300 feet in the mountains above Camp Verde, AZ. Had to use thermal underwear (top and bottom) to stay warm during 56 degree F nighttime minimum temp, even in an REI Half Dome with fly. Used again later in Gila National Monument at about 6200 feet with full rigged tent, nighttime low of about 50, and was very chilly even with 4 top and 2 bottom layers. I'm tall and thin, but even a long seemed too short for my comfort, even though a long bag is rated to 6-6. Loft on this bag is a skimpy 1/2 inch or so. It does pack down small, as you would expect for a 20 oz bag, but it would be best to call this a 55 F degree bag at best. I'll likely return this bag.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme +45 Sleeping Bag - Long - '07 Closeout:

I wanted a summer bag that would be small, light, and keep me warm in a bivy down to the upper 40's. Despite the warning reviews on the bag not living up to it's rating, I gave it a shot.

Took it out backpacking, nights with a low of 46-49F. Had it on top of a sleeping pad, in a fully closed up bivy. Freezing cold. Even when bundling up in long pants, socks, thermal shirt, and sweatshirt, it was still cold. I'm generally a cold sleeper, but that's just ridiculous. This bag's probably ok if it's above 55 or 60. But in those cases, I'd just pack a lightweight blanket, and call it a day.

This one's headed back to REI. Thank goodness for their return policy!

I used this bag for 2 backpacking trips: one in southern Illinois and one on the Appalachian Trail. The bag was generally fine for the Illinois trip, as temperatures never fell below 70F. However, I was extremely cold and uncomfortable in the bag during my AT trip, and temperatures were approximately 50F at night. No padding or warmth.

Very lightweight and easy to pack, however. Very small stuff sack.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme +45 Sleeping Bag - Long - '07 Closeout:

I bought this for a 3 night trip in Paria canyon in June. Low temps were about 60 and this kept me plenty warm wearing just my boxers. Normally I like to be pretty warm when sleeping so I'd say 45 degrees is accurate. No sweating/condensation issues either. It performed perfectly.
Length is perfect for me, I'm 6'2". It's a little tight around the torso for me, but all bags are. I weigh 210 pounds.
The bag feels like there is nothing there, it's super light, packs down tiny in the stuff sack, but is perfect for those nights over 50 degrees.
Durability wise, it seems as durable as any other bag I've used. The zipper was fine, and I was shocked to see the little glow in the dark zipper pull still glowing at 2am! I thought it was just a gimmick!
I found the pack to be as advertised in all aspects and for the price I highly recommend it.

The compact size of this bag is a major plus. It packs to the size of a football and weights about the same. With the space and weight savings I was able to bring more equipment and still weigh less. The price is much lower than other sleeping bags. Only drawback is that it is a very thin bag and will not keep you very warm on a cold trip. Most of my camping will be in the south, so it is perfect for most of my trips.

Got this to replace a fleece bag. First night out the temps dropped to just below 40F. My feet were a little chilled but otherwise I was warm enough. Works well on warmer nights as a quilt with a footbox. VERY lightweight.

The bag was very lightweight... rolls back up in a football shape which was very convenient for saving space.. kept me very warm for such a thin sleeping bag... love this bag.. although i would've loved it to be a little wider.. kinda hard to roll around =)

First of all, if you're going to complain that this bag isn't warm enough, tough! It's a supreme lightweight bag (Clocking in at 1-1/4 pounds) that packs to the size of a nalgene bottle. I can slip this into my jacket pocket if need be. It's not intended for Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness in March. I don't think you can find a better combination of lightweight, durability, comfort, and quality anywhere for the price of this little puppy. If you're worried about getting cold, buy 2 and layer them. You'd have an absolutely killer 30 degree bag that weighs 2-1/2 pounds. Not a bad deal at that!
