    Comments about REI Camp Stool:

Sure it may not be as comfortable as a full size chair and you may miss some amenities like a cup holder but it does the trick when you need something small and light weight. I'm 212 lb's and I've sat in this chair for a long time and had no problem getting comfortable. The back support is a plus, you wouldn't think that something so small would be comfortable and supportive. It's light and packs fairly small. My only wish would be that it wasn't so long when folded, minor detail.

      Comments about REI Camp Stool:

I love having a place to sit on backpacking trips, and I have used my backpacking stools, but I really wanted some back support so I tried this stool.

Unfortunately, I found it uncomfortable. I found the depth of the seat pan to be TOO SHORT and the pole support caught me square in the front in a very uncomfortable place. I am 5'10" and 220 pounds, but this chair was not designed for me.

      I plan on returning it.

        Comments about REI Camp Stool:

My boyfriend and I bought two of these chairs as we're both photographers and often take long exposures where we wanted a light chair to sit on to wait, especially on those early sunrise outings where you're waiting out on a beach somewhere. They're really lightweight, easy to carry even in addition to a tripod, and surprisingly comfortable. Only problem is one chair broke (mine actually), pole came through the fabric. Wasn't monkeying around or anything either. Returned it to REI no problem, and would still recommend these chairs as I think the breaking was a fluke, they seem well made.

          Comments about REI Camp Stool:

I'm 6'5", about 200lbs, and this stool fits me ok. Imagine a relatively comfy bicycle seat with a back to it. This is much better than sitting on the ground, and much lighter than another camp stool which will remain nameless. Well, until now: GCI Quick-E-Seat. That being said, I agree with another reviewer that recommended not to expect a giant comfy armchair.

I take exception to the unstable and bulky comments however. For a chair, it folds into a relatively compact pouch (roughly about the same size as a compact sleeping pad). I also did not have any issues with stability, and my clumsy body size can make stability an issue with anything.

Fine for backpacking trips, but I'd go elsewhere for car camping.
