This is a really great shirt for everyday wear at the office. It would be even better if REI provided the option of buying this shirt as a V-neck. Most office workers these days do not wear ties, so the crew neck shirt can be seen, which does not look good.
Give us a V-neck!

I tried one of these and loved it, especially under my dress shirt and tie...much better than cotton. And it doesn't retain odors or turn colors, easy to wash and quick to dry. Go to the gym after work take off suit add shorts, and shoes and you're ready to sweat. Relegated all cotton t-shirts to car rags.

I bought this as a cycling base layer (although it's not made for that). Consequently it works OK but is not as good as a proper cycling base layer (a little too thick). My fault I guess but FYI in case you're in the same situation.

Comments about REI Lightweight MTS Crew - Men's:
For heat, humidity and intense sun, this shirt is perfect (I wear it as outerwear). The UPF 50 is unexpected in a fabric this light and breathable. Wicks moisture like nothing I've ever tried before. Feels almost like you are wearing nothing. For anyone looking for maximum sun protection while staying cool, this shirt is a real find.
Spritz it a few times with water from a spry bottle and you have some evaporative cooling working for you.
The only drawback is that it develops pulls somewhat easily. Treat it gently if you want it to look its best. Turning it inside out for laundering will help prevent pulls. You could even wear it inside out when necessary. The inner surface is much more snag resistant. Snipping off the snags cleans them up pretty well.
I deducted one star for durability, but it is a good value at the price and I wouldn't be without at least one.
For those looking for a V-neck, I noticed Exofficio offers one (different fabric, but similar idea).

I figured this would do just as well as a tech T-Shirt while backpacking in the high Sierras in the summer. After all, it wicks away sweat and dries quickly, and has adequate sun protection. What more is needed?
Well, a little more. A lot of velcro is used in backpacking gear, and if you simply graze this fabric with the 'hook' side of velcro you'll get nasty snags. If that nasty aesthetic bothers you, use it as an under layer or get a different shirt.
It also isn't thick enough to keep mosquitoes from biting through it, but that really wasn't expected.

This shirt wicks moisture and feels nice against the skin. The main reason I'm giving it only 3/5 stars is that the sleeves are too long. I'm wearing it under a polo right now and the sleeves are sticking out a good 3/4". It's a The North Face polo with pretty standard length sleeves, and I don't like having my undershirt sleeves stick out. Overall the fit is a little too loose for an undershirt. The sleeve length and fit would be fine for a shirt that I would wear by itself, but that's not why I bought this product. I think REI would be better off having a more slim-fitting MTS undershirt and a looser running/training shirt instead of designing this product to do both.

Trying several moisture wicking undershirts. These are the best so far! Incredibly soft. No odor at all. I think I could wear it for days before my wife would even notice!
REALLY REALLY NEED V-NECK!!! Please??!??!

This is a great product. Not like wearing one of the so called "performance" synthetic plastic bags of the past. Our family went on a Mediterranean cruise last summer and it was HOT. I'm very sensitive to heat, but these shirts are as close to wearable air conditioning as I've ever experienced. I brought two white shirts and washed one every evening and it was dry by morning. Or just wash, role in a towel and stomp on it and wear immediately. Within 15 minutes it will be dry. Great for mowing the lawn and yard work in the sun (SPF50). Seems cooler than bare skin. Because of the weave, it does tend to snag, but that's like complaining that water is wet. I bought two additional shirts in black. Dressier, better for dirt hiding and much better for taking pictures through a tour bus window(a white shirt reflects on the window). Improvements would be tall sizes, a V-neck, anti-bacterial, and some additional color choices (I'm not a fan of olive drab).

I've tried X-Officio (puckers, snags), Travelsmith (stiff, poor fit), Jockey (sags, fades) and this is the best ever. Slinky but not slimy, fits like a glove, breathes great and you don't even know you're wearing it unless you look at the great image in the mirror. Totally pleased. Stays snug under the arms to wick away sweat, never gets sticky/clammy like cotton. I've tossed my cotton underwear and gone to these for full-time daily wear. Pricey but worth it.
