Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
I love this little guy. I've had it for about 2 years. Actually, it's my second one... airports WILL take this away from you, so either check it in a bag or don't bring it along.
Other than that, it's the ultimate at parties. need that beer opened? no problem. what's that? you need the package of hamburgers opened? done. need to carve some marshmellow roasting sticks? absolutely.
get one.

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
My main gripe is that the handle and overall package are large and unusually shaped. It's like this was designed as a bottle opener and a miniscule knife blade was added as an afterthought. I don't object to tiny-bladed knives, but they are usually tiny knives. For the size of the blade, this is quite large. I didn't find it comfortable to carry. If you want to toss a bottle opener into your kit anyway, then this adds a barely-usable knife and might be a reasonable choice. Do not pick it as a pocket knife though. For what it's worth, I also felt that the workmanship on my sample was poor compared to other Buck [$] knives I have. The blade did not open smoothly, and the lock was gritty-feeling. I've been impressed with other Buck [...] knives in the same price range, and it's certainly possible mine was an exception.

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
I can't say that it inspires confidence when using the blade; the round shape of the handle makes me worry that my fingers will slip onto the blade if I really pushed hard.
However... it is waaaaay fun to flip open and shut. When it is in your hand, you tend to open and shut it just because it is so easy. I actually like the knife alot.
Is easily the easiest opening AND CLOSING knife I've held. Not even a Rollock or a knife with thumb pegs on the blade is easier.
Great for you pocket.
Not great for serious cutting; great for incidentals (I'd bring this to the mall... I'd bring something else to the BWCA).

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
I bought one of these when I was working [...], and used it to open boxes all day long. Although I was only cutting cardboard and tape, the blade nicked and dulled pretty fast. The blade is also relatively small considering the size of the body; I think they could have fit a larger one in. Finally, the bottle opener is OK, but it's lacking leverage, so you're likely to spill a bit when you finally pop the cap off.

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
I bought this knife as a gift for a friend who is a bit scary when using a knife; so safety was a primary concern. One might wonder why I'd think a pocket knife to be an appropriate gift for such an individual. Well, everyone should learn to use a knife, but also if this person has no knife they constantly use kitchen knives or other people's pocket knives which may be hard to fold and I'd like this person's fingers to remain intact.
This is a wonderful knife. The blade is very small, but nicely shaped. It would be difficult to injure one's self with this knife. It is by far the easiest to close folding knife I have ever used. It is comfortable to hold, and the handle style makes it easy to hold in the safest possible way. It would be a great first knife for a child, and a perfect everyday knife for most people. It's very lightweight so it doesn't pull one's pants down while stored in a pocket. It's small enough that you could pull it out in a post office and not have people running away screaming and getting police. The colors are great. I have nothing but praise for this little knife. Buck is a great brand. I've had several buck knives and I've always been happy with them. I will be getting myself one of these knives.

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
I lost my last one to airport security, so am back for another. This knife sits flat in your pocket. I especially like that I can open or close it with one hand. Also, the round shape and the roughened top edge make it easy to control the knife when bearing down on a hard cut. For me, the big advantage to this design in that I can one-hand open, close, and bear down when wearing thick winter gloves.
It did not come really sharp, but a couple of minutes on a stone, and it was fine for around the house use. Now, if I can only remember to ship it the next time I fly......

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
As a sales executive for a natural foods broker, my wife gets 15-25 packages a week. Keeping this little knife in my pocket makes opening all those boxes a breeze. The blade remains sharp throughout the box-breaking-down process. My only compliant is that the bottle opener takes a little extra leverage to pop the top.

Comments about Buck Metro Knife:
Thinking about what I wanted in an everyday pocket knife, I realized that all I really needed on my keychain was a blade and a bottle opener.
Boom. Found it. I use this knife nearly every day--around the house, chopping food at picnics, and constantly opening beers for everyone at parties. I love this knife, and when it dies, I'm buying another one!
Both blade and opener are easy to use, but it is really tough to clean out, which is my one complaint.
I definitely don't take it backpacking--you can get something with a longer blade and lighter weight for that--and I don't need a bottle opener on the trail that often ;o)
