Great idea but not worth it

I bought this thinking I'd reduce the risk of glass breakage and save 1/2 ounce! Unfortunately, the mesh makes it hard to light. The glass concentrates the fuel coming through the mantle and the piezio sparker lights off whereas the mesh allows the fuel to wisp off in the breeze and it is a pain to light. I had to use a few matches to get the beast to light!

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

      I bought one of these do-dads to save a half an ounce (ha!) and reduce the risk of glass breakage. Unfortunately, it doesn't light as easily as with the glass globe. When opening the gas valve, the gas "leaks" out through the mesh and the piezo sparker doesn't ignite the gas. This is not a problem with the glass globe.

      Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

        The mantle disintegrated during installation so I had to replace it. Also, the lantern is much harder to light with the mesh globe. You should stick with the glass globe that the lantern comes with.
