Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
The Garmin eTrex bicycle mount does not work with the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx (and other newer eTrex GPS). You need to buy the Garmin "rail mount adapter kit" instead (around $11). The rail mount kit comes in either small or large sizes. The large size fits road bikes with fatter handlebars.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
I could not use the product because it didn't fit my new eTrex HCx. I am returning the product. New HCx owners must get the bicycle mount from Garmin, [$]. The bicycle mount from Garmin fits the small plastic clip that came with the new HCx. Attach the clip to the back of the HCx case and you are good to go.

This is how to use with your new HCx.
1) Open original gps box
2) Take out adapter clip
3) Turn over HCx and screw in adapter clip using the original battery cover
4) Now attach to handlebar mount
5) Enjoy!
PS: on page 1 of the owner's manual tries to explain this.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
With this my eTrex replaces my bike computer and much much more. Like downloadable maps; made my touring in Italia fabulous!
shutting down at bumps? Be aware that not all batteries are the same size! Some won't even fit in the case.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
I put this on my all-terrain bike. It holds my etrex very secure. I like the two piece setup- I can unclip the unit quickly.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
Be sure to pad the battery case. If you don't, your unit will reset when you hit the first bump on the trail. Otherwise, rock solid.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
This handlebar mount is risky to use. I owned a Etrex Vista CX which fell off my bike as I was riding across a bridge and into a river. I then bought another eTrex. I now use the lanyard to attach the unit to the bike in addition to the mount. A few months a ago I discovered that the clip, which is made of plastic, had lost its elasticity and would not secure the unit to the handlebar. I wiggled the clip and it broke in my hand. It is a very poor choice of material for a clip. Also there is a problem with the battery cover. It cannot fit an etrex if you have a SD chip in it.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount:
I have been using it for past three years with no problems, including some crashes too.I do keep lanyard wrapped around handlebars just in case, but it never came loose. As someone mentioned earlier not all batteries are same length so watch out for those shorter ones. And yes the battery door it comes with will not fit all models. It did not fit my legend cx (because of card slot next to batteries)
