Comments about Brunton Lander Dual-Fuel Stove - '09 Overstock:
We used the "lander" on a canoe-in camping trip in the Adirondacks and it performed admirably heating water, making pancakes and frying fish. The temperature control isn't perfect, but can be adjusted enough to be workable. It might be a little heavy for backpackers, but I definitely like the versatility of the duel fuel. We used it with white gas because it is cheaper, and there is less waste (reusable fuel bottles). My only complaint is that I wish it came with a lined nylon case to store the fuel bottle/pump assembly in. The included case is nice, but only the stove and repair kit fits inside. Also, for some reason there were no instructions in our box. I went online where they were readily available on the mafg's website.

Comments about Brunton Lander Dual-Fuel Stove - '09 Overstock:
The option to use generic butane gas canisters makes this fuel stove excellent value for both weekend and multi-day trips.
I have just performed performance tests with MSR pocket rocket for gas and whisperlite for white spirit and it is equivalent or better.
Build quality is excellent.
Slightly heavier but very solid.
Bargain at the moment. Package includes all accessories including windshield and a rather heavy maintenance tool

Comments about Brunton Lander Dual-Fuel Stove - '09 Overstock:
This is my first white gas stove (and the first I've used in many years). It was easy to unpack & setup, easy to light and feels sturdy enough that my grandkids will be using it after I die. It gets plenty hot, but is a little hard to control at low flame - goes from off to pretty hot with very little movement of the valve. The design flaw is in the preheat tubing - if they'd just bent the tubing a small amount near where the hose connects, the unit would take up less space (and I wouldn't worry about catching in on something and maybe breaking it). All in all, it was well worth the sale price of just under $60 (compared to $120+ for similar stoves).

I took the stove backpacking in the mountains. It worked pretty well, even though the temperatures were around 40 degrees. It boiled water fast. Only major con is that the cooking base is slightly too large to use for a soup can.

I have only used it with white gasoline but it worked very well. Primed easy and quickly and burned hot. Just make sure you have the legs fully extended before use.

I haven't used many others, but this thing was perfect for us...
Works well, easy to use, really compact, and comes with a great carry sack and maintenance kit. No faults from me!
